Organizer - Yellow Half Marathon

“Change your life” is a motto for USA Fit. This will be my fourth season with Lubbock Fit. I do not have a running background. My motivation was to get into better shape and maybe lose a few pounds. The program has worked for me. I began training with Lubbock Fit at age 57. I have completed 1 full marathon, the Panhandle Marathon in 2013 and 5 half marathons: San Antonio Rock ‘n’ Roll 2011 and 2012, the New Orleans Mardi Gras in 2012 and 2013, and the Willie McCool in 2013. My wife, Vicki, and I have participated in many local 5k and 10k races. Running with Lubbock Fit has changed my life. Our “group runs” on Saturday are informative, challenging, and fun. The running tips, friendship, and encouragement I have received from the group have helped me gain the knowledge, conditioning, and confidence to finish a marathon and a half marathon.

You can get into better shape, meet new friends, have fun, lessen your chance for injury, and complete a marathon or half marathon with the USA/Lubbock Fit program. I am eager to share what I have experienced the past 2 years. Come join us and let’s see what we can accomplish together.

Organizer - Red 5K/10K

Let’s get moving! I will be in my third season with Lubbock Fit. My motivation is to get people started with walking and also to be an encourager for the entire group. I trained for and completed the San Antonio Rock ‘n’ Roll half marathon in 2012. I have completed numerous 5K and 10K races in the area. Some of the most fun events have been the Howl-O-Ween Dog Run/Walk, the Carol of Lights Run, Turkey Trot, and the Color Run. Runners and walkers are positive people that are fun to be with. The fun and friendship at our group runs on Saturday is something that I look forward to each week. The benefits of walking are numerous: Getting into overall better health, increasing your energy and stamina, focusing on an attainable goal, and the feeling of accomplishment once you reach that goal. Whether you want to walk 1 mile,  a 5K, 10K, or half marathon, you have to get started. You can’t finish the race unless you begin! Let’s get started!

Head Coach - Marathon

I am excited to be coaching this season.  I have always been passionate about exercising, being physically fit and eating healthy.  I began running 5k’s many years ago and as I grew older wanted to try running longer distances but never found the time.  When I turned 50, I knew it was time to make it happen. I found USA FIT Lubbock through a friend at church.  In June of 2016 I joined and the rest is history.  At USA FIT Lubbock, I meet and encourage runners who share the same passion as I do for running.

In October 2016, I ran my first half marathon at the Texas Wine Run at Llano Winery followed by the Buffalo Wallow half marathon in November 2016 at Buffalo Springs Lake.  In February 2017, I ran my first marathon at the Rock-n-Roll marathon in New Orleans followed by the Willie McCool half marathon in April 2017.  USA FIT Lubbock is a great group to develop wonderful friendships with like-minded, goal oriented runners who will help and encourage you to meet your personal goals.

If you believe it, you can achieve it!

Head Coach -

This is my 3rd season with Lubbock Fit and 1st season as a coach. I have run 2 half marathons: the Llano Estacado Winery Half Marathon and the Willie McCool Half Marathon. I ran the winter season with my 9 year old son, Kyson, who completed his first half marathon at the WIllie McCool. I love encouraging other runners and supporting them in their running goals. Lubbock Fit members have become family to me. I look forward to Saturday runs because of the people I get to see.
